The Friends of GRI are excited to announce an exhibition dedicated to the irrepressible Sir William Macewen will run at the FOGRI Museum from October 3 until December 8.
Sir William was the first surgeon to successfully remove a brain tumour and the designer of an artificial limb for soldiers who were injured during the First World War – and that’s just the start
In the year before the centenary anniversary of his death we wanted to remember and tell people about an unbelievable man from the medical world who was based right here at the GRI.
To open the exhibition we also have the honour of retired GRI Professor of Medicine Ken Paterson giving a talk on the iconic surgeon’s prosthetic wartime achievements.
