THE new Glasgow Bee Trail will officially open to the public this weekend – and we’re buzzing about it! For the past few months we’ve been a hive of activity getting things ready ahead of the big launch across Saturday May 23 and Sunday May 24 from 11am until 4pm each day.
There are 23 cute little bees plus two bonus bees (like the one pictured below), created by Emma Murray from Studio Mariscat, to find on this fun-free self-guided tour. Use the easy to follow colourful map designed by Ed Walker to help direct you on your bee hunt. Will you find all of them or just some? Who is your favourite? Barbara or Billy or maybe Beau?
Each of the bees has a little bit of history to share with you too, from an old washing green to a beer-filled tunnel and cholera outbreaks. Look out for our beehives along the way and you might spot a real honey bee out gathering pollen in the medicinal garden or in the pear orchard too.
Pop in if you get a chance, pick up your map and join in our celebration of the trail. It’s a weekend of bees, freebies* and a whole lot of fun for big kids and little kids!
But if you miss out don’t worry – the trail will always be there. Just pick up a map at the museum, scan one of the many QR codes dotted around the Cathedral Precinct Area or click here to see the trail.
